Linux Pose Serious threat to Windows

Microsoft has named Linux merchandisers Red Hat and Canonical as major opponents to the Windows consumer trade in its yearly filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission in the United States.
The move is seen as an acknowledgment of the primary practical rivalry from Linux to Microsoft Windows consumer commerce, mainly due to the adaption of Linux notebooks, which are increasing in distinction as substitutes to the full-sized notebooks that are currently available.

“Net books unlocked Microsoft to the rare possibility that other OS could get a grip on the PC on the other hand momentarily,” noted Rob Helm, who is the manager of research for Directions in Microsoft. “Now it’s watchful to the likelihood moving forward.”

In its yearly Form 10-K account for the financial year which ended on June 30, Microsoft quoted Red Hat and Canonical – the latter which uphold the Ubuntu Linux allocation – as contestants to the client production, which involves the desktop description of its original Windows OS.

Beforehand, Microsoft had noted opposition from Red Hat to the Server and Tools trade, which involves another Windows Server description of the company’s OS for server hardware, and related tools in its 10-K reports which they noted during the end year briefing.

“Client faces a strong antagonism from well-enabled and established organizations with contradictory approach methods in the Personal Computer market,” Microsoft noted. “Opposing marketable software produces and goods, including alternative versions of UNIX, are distributed by competitors like Canonica, Apple and Red Hat.”

Microsoft has admitted the quality of products produced by Linux is high quality and will effectively fit the users need. This move makes windows to be more creative and provide god value for their clients to maintain the large business community they host. People are now looking at different manufactures and keenly note brands that will sustain them effectively and give them good value for their money.
The windows group is doing various researches to get the wide market range and change in technology has seen the rise of various brands that are also competing to get the market share. The bad thing with technology is that people will dismiss your product or idea if it is hard to follow and will not assist the individuals accordingly. Proper research is needed when taking up projects.

Microsoft’s present Windows OS and Windows Vista, have a large hardware and are far much too expensive as compared to the Linux notebooks that are on offer. The vista version of windows was not well received because I was not compatible with the users need at the moment in time. It was way too expensive and people opted for cheaper, easy to understand and performing versions. The Microsoft’s decade old Windows known as XP OS is very much and still the leading scheme for net books that windows has, and the release in to the market of Windows 7 which is the latest brand in October will attribute the Starter Edition which is geared for the market and is expected to pick up a huge client base.
